Freixenet was founded in 1914 by the union of two families with a wine tradition: the Ferrer family and the Sala family. In 1941, its flagship product, Carta Nevada, was launched on the market, presented in an iconic frosted golden bottle that features Freixenet’s famous Christmas commercials. In the 70s, with the brand fully consolidated in the Spanish market, efforts were intensified to reach international markets and Cordón Negro, the leading cava in exports, was launched. In the mid-1980s, an expansion began that led Freixenet to the world leadership of quality sparkling wines made according to the traditional method, a position it still maintains today. Freixenet stands out for its capacity for innovation and development that has materialized in modern and spectacular facilities and in the elaboration of a wide range of sparkling wines.
